About the Department:

The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development and its School of Kinesiology invites applications from highly qualified Adjunct Faculty to teach “Advanced Resistance Training Techniques” (KINE 361) to Kinesiology undergraduate majors within the Strength and Conditioning concentration. Responsibilities:

  • Instructors will teach “Advanced Resistance Training Techniques” (KINE 361) in a face-to-face mode on the Science and Technology campus in Manassas, VA. Instructors will be provided instructional and mentoring support from faculty; and 
  • Facilitating quality instruction and responsive feedback to guide student growth are essential.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s or doctorate degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or an equivalent major;
  • Experience and expertise in coaching advanced resistance training techniques, including Olympic lifts, plyometrics, speed and agility drills, and strength training tailored for sports and athletics;
  • Proficiency in creating resistance training workouts to enhance strength, power, speed, and overall conditioning for a diverse range of clients;
  • Ability to recognize and address improper execution of both lower and upper body anaerobic training movements, ensuring correct form and technique; and
  • Knowledge of appropriate evidence-based tests and protocols to assess and track progress in strength and conditioning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist credential from the National Strength and Conditioning Association;
  • University teaching experience;
  • Knowledge of Blackboard, Canvas or other learning management systems; and
  • Evidence of successful teaching a similar course.
