About the Department:

The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) is an innovative, inclusive, and cutting-edge college that successfully prepares professionals to promote learning and development across the life span while contributing meaningfully to research in human and organizational performance as well as in the learning and developmental sciences. The college, with nearly 130 full-time faculty members, more than 300 part-time faculty members and nine academic divisions offers 27 academic programs, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, across its three schools, the School of Education, the School of Kinesiology and the School of Sport, Recreation, and Tourism Management. In addition, faculty engage in an extensive portfolio of research and are fully engaged in the community. Responsibilities:

  • Teaches graduate and undergraduate level licensure courses in secondary curriculum, instruction, and methods (with an emphasis on history/social science subject matter and pedagogies);
  • Works with field-based initiatives and supervision in partnership school's network; and 
  • Other courses to be taught might include action research, adolescent development, assessment, foundations of education, and program electives.

Required Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in secondary education or a related content field with secondary teaching experience and expertise in history/social science education is required; 
  • Ability to work with diverse populations; and
  • Possesses a commitment to an interdisciplinary instructional approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with diverse populations;
  • Recent work in public school settings;
  • Teaching experience in grades 6-12; and
  • Interest in field-based teacher education.
