About the Position:
The Schedule and Event Assistant is responsible for assisting the Schedule and Event Coordinator with all aspects of event management and scheduling of performing arts venues on the Fairfax campus. The Center for the Arts is part of the College of Visual and Performing Arts, whose mission is to make the arts an intrinsic part of the lives of every George Mason University Student and area resident.
This is a great opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in performing arts management, events management, and venue operations while also building skills in communication and project management.

Responsibilities:
The Schedule and Event Assistant will report directly to the Schedule and Event Coordinator for the Center for the Arts.
- Assists with all aspects of event management for both rental and internal events, including but not limited to:
- Managing intake of rental requests & email inquiries;
- Coordinating client meetings and walkthroughs;
- Gathering post-event recap data;
- Drafting event estimates and invoices;
- Assists with scheduling & calendar tasks utilizing the university’s space database and 25Live;
- Performs daily administrative and operational tasks such as maintaining building schedules and housekeeping requests; and
- Provides onsite support for events on an as-needed basis.

Required Qualifications:
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills;
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once while ensuring all tasks are completed on time;
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse client base;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to effectively communicate standards of facility use, program operations, campus policies, and procedures to clients both internal and external to the University community;
- Ability to work 15-30 hours per week, mostly between regular business hours of 10:00am to 6:00pm but with occasional weekend or evening hours as needed;
- Experience working with colleagues from diverse backgrounds; and
- Must have reliable personal transportation and be able to work in-person on GMU’s Fairfax campus.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience and/or strong interest in performing arts, arts management, event management, operations, or a related field; and
- Familiarity with scheduling databases and digital collaboration tools such as 25Live, Smartsheet, Outlook, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.
