About the Position:

The Marketing and Communications Manager develops engaging content to achieve the College’s objectives and ensure timely distribution of all content across channels, including social media, the website, alumni newsletters, donor updates, annual reports, and BOV/executive leadership updates. This individual co-manages the editorial calendar for the College, maintains the editorial workflow in Wrike, and leads team discussions on editorial content. Additionally, the role involves creating video content (both long-form and short-form) in collaboration with the design and communications teams. The Marketing and Communications Manager creates inspiring content and works to ensure its distributed through channels that reach and inspire target audiences.

Responsibilities:

Content Creation:

  • Develops innovative and informative content in alignment with college strategy;
  • Develops creative forms of content including tip sheets, infographics, research announcements, social media content, web content, special content for strategic audiences, photography, and graphics;
  • Creates basic graphics and collaborates with graphic designers to produce engaging visuals for various platforms;
  • Writes and edits content for digital platforms as needed;
  • Optimizes content for various platforms, ensuring it is appropriate for the audience and platform;
  • Works in partnership with the Marketing and Communications team to align all distributed content with the overall communication and branding strategy;
  • Liaises with editorial staff to ensure messaging consistency across all content; and
  • Collaborates with the development team on donor updates, alumni newsletters, and other content initiatives.

Content Distribution:

  • Manages the timely distribution of content across multiple channels, ensuring timeliness and accuracy. Examples of channels include web, social media, newsletters, PR pitch letters, and presentations;
  • Develops and maintains a content distribution strategy that aligns with organizational goals;
  • Innovates new and improved channels for reaching target audiences with engaging content; and
  • Reports on content distribution performance, using data to refine future strategies.

Editorial Calendar and Project Management:

  • Co-manages the College’s editorial calendar to ensure all content is planned, scheduled, and delivered on time;
  • Maintains the editorial workflow in the project management system, ensuring smooth coordination and progress tracking for all content projects;
  • Leads team discussions on editorial content, facilitating brainstorming sessions and aligning content with strategic priorities;
  • Maintains a comprehensive content calendar and editorial workflow in Wrike to track content creation, distribution, and deadlines;
  • Coordinates with various stakeholders to ensure content meets deadlines and quality standards; and
  • Completes all other tasks as assigned by the Dean and/or Director of Marketing and Communications.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Experience in content management, distribution, digital marketing, or related communications experience or related education (typically 2 years);
  • Experience creating web and social media content, such as articles, graphics, infographics, videos, etc., using Canva or other programs; and
  • Excellent oral and written communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field;
  • Experience creating and executing content distribution strategy;
  • Experience aligning content creation with strategic priorities;
  • Experience creating print/non-digital materials;
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to develop cohesive working relationships with internal and external clients;
  • Attention to detail and deadlines;
  • Flexibility to adapt to change; and
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
