About the Department:

Mason Enterprise is an exciting and rapidly growing department whose work spans internal and external George Mason University functions that support technology commercialization and entrepreneurship. The department sits in the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Impact, and consists of the Office of Tech Transfer, federal, state, regional, and local programs that support small business, Mason Enterprise Centers (incubators), and the expansion of the Arlington campus as it relates to entrepreneurship and small business development. Through counseling and training, we help people start and grow companies. Our "clients” are members of the community, students, and faculty members from across Virginia.
 

About the Position:

The Mason Enterprise Job Portal Fellow will develop a job portal specific to the early stage tech community. The Fellow must be able to provide creative solutions to the project, able to work independently, and report to the AVP of Innovation and Economic Development.  The position will be available for the summer months of June-August 2025. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a job portal specifically targeting the early stage tech community. The purpose of the portal will be to match tech talent with early stage tech companies;
  • Development of the job portal will require website development, coding basics, and GUI standards;
  • Work independently;
  • Provide creative solutions;
  • Must deliver a demo to the community at project completion; and
  • Report to the AVP of Innovation and Economic Development. Deliverables and reporting requirements will be agreed upon with the AVP prior to project start date.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with website development, coding basics, and GUI standards;
  • Must have a demonstrated portfolio of work, and be able to present at least 2 websites of development; and
  • Must be able to take direction, work independently, meet deadlines and deliverables, and offer creative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computer Science major (3rd or 4th year undergraduate), or related field of study; and
  • Understanding of HR practices.
