Position Summary

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all college vehicles, carts, groundskeeping/heavy equipment, and emergency generators.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Ability to assist with general equipment repair and maintenance of all college owned cars, trucks, buses, vans, carts, mowers and specialty equipment. This includes but is not limited to fluid and filter changes, tune ups, lubrication, replacement of brake pads/shoes, bearings, bushings and belts. Service power trains with gasoline or diesel engines, standard or
automatic transmissions.

Troubleshoot and repair vehicle heating and air conditioning systems, fuel systems, and electrical systems.
Road test all vehicles following repair and/or service. Provide ongoing training to subordinate auto mechanics.
Ability to perform arc welding and acetylene torch cutting.

Properly contain, collect, and dispose of waste fluids and materials.

Respond as needed to all college emergencies and closures. This includes inclement weather (snow, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc.), power outages, vehicle and/or equipment failure.
Respond for emergency service to all college vehicles within a 200-mile radius of the Arnold campus.
Ability to install, service, and repair snow removal equipment.

Maintain and service all of the college-owned emergency generators.

Follow established safety policies and procedures, including the routine use of personal protective equipment necessary to perform duties in a safe manner.

Inspect fleet vehicles prior to issuance and upon their return. Assure fleet vehicles are fully serviced and safe for operation on and off campus.
Maintain fleet vehicle repair and service records.
Maintain general service parts and supply inventories; order repair parts, supplies, and materials as needed.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED

Minimum of six months of relevant experience

Ability to comprehend schematics, technical documents, and electronic technology in vehicle maintenance and repair.

Possess a valid state driver's license and good driving record as determined by college policy.

Effective oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to train/instruct others.

Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, staff, faculty, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:

Fleet service experience

Higher Education experience

Welding skills
