Position Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Academic Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the coordination and provision of high quality instruction and curriculum development in the PTA Program. Duties include instruction in a variety of formats including classroom, lab, special topics courses, distance learning, on-line instruction and coordinating and providing tutoring. The PTA Academic Coordinator is classified as core faculty for reporting to the Commission on Accreditation for Physical Therapy (CAPTE). The PTA Academic Coordinator assists in the coordination and support of accreditation projects, program surveys, program and course level assessment, program analysis, student retention, and technology integration. This position is assigned 30 FLH total (fall, spring and summer) and requires an in-person presence.

Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. As an employee of the college, you are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
PTA program instruction. This includes classroom, lab, on-line,video conference and special topics courses.
Coordinates and provides administrative support for the PTA program,
Coordinates all aspects of the PTA program's re-admission process. Serves as the primary advisor to PTA students who are re-admitted to the program through special topics and learning contracts. Coordinates and provides mentoring, tutoring, and advising for all PTA students in the program.
Coordinates, designs, develops, and updates curriculum and instructional materials for diverse learning formats and methods.
This is a 12-month staff position
This position is overtime exempt
Conducts program and course level assessment that are compliant with AACC's Learning Outcomes Assessment (LOA) and CAPTE required elements.

Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree
Current PT or PTA license, or eligibility, with the state of Maryland
Ability to meet requirements for faculty as outlined in the CAPTE standards, including a minimum of 3 years clinical experience as a PT or PTA.
Strong human relations skills, including the ability to function effectively and tactfully with diverse populations such as students, administrators, faculty, staff and the public.
Ability to work flexible 40 hour weekly schedule, including some evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of the PTA program and SHS. May include travel.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Previous teaching experience in a formal Physical Therapist Assistant program highly desirable.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to make oral presentations.
Experience in teaching using a distance learning format.
