This key gameday role will deliver real-time information, energize the crowd, maintain a professional tone, and contribute to an exciting and welcoming game environment for fans, student-athletes, and visiting teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the official voice for LSSU home contests in Hockey (Taffy Abel Arena), Volleyball, and Men’s & Women’s Basketball (Bud Cooper Gymnasium).
Provide accurate and engaging live play-by-play information such as player introductions, scoring updates, penalties, fouls, substitutions, and timeouts in accordance with NCAA and conference policies.
Deliver promotional reads, sponsor announcements, marketing initiatives, safety messages, and other in-game scripts as provided by LSSU Athletics.
Work in coordination with the game operations crew, athletic communications staff, scoreboard operators, music coordinators, and officials to ensure smooth and timely game flow.
Maintain a professional demeanor and appropriate energy level aligned with the LSSU Athletics brand and fan experience expectations.
Be prepared for and responsive to in-game changes such as lineup adjustments, special ceremonies, and emergency announcements.
Attend and contribute to pre-game run-throughs and production meetings, when applicable. |
2025-2026 NCAA Division I Hockey – Off-Ice Officials & Replay Official

Lake Superior State University Athletics is seeking dependable, detail-oriented, and professional individuals to serve as Off-Ice Officials and Replay Officials for NCAA Division I men’s hockey home games. Off-Ice Officials play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of game operations through scorekeeping, statistics, timing, and video replay duties in accordance with NCAA and CCHA (Central Collegiate Hockey Association) standards.
This position requires a high level of focus, impartiality, and professionalism, as well as the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, live game environment.
General Off-Ice Official Duties
Official Scorekeeper: Maintain the official game scoresheet, including goals, assists, penalties, and shots on goal.
Timekeeper: Operate the official game clock and ensure accurate timing of periods, penalties, and intermissions.
Statisticians: Track and input real-time game statistics including shots, faceoffs, blocked shots, hits, etc., using NCAA LiveStats or similar software.
Replay Official Duties:
Operate and manage the NCAA-mandated video replay system for goal reviews, offside calls, and other reviewable events.
Communicate directly with on-ice referees to provide clear and timely video evidence during stoppages.
Maintain accurate records of all reviewed plays, including timestamps and outcomes, for postgame reporting.
Ensure all replay equipment is functioning and compliant with NCAA and CCHA requirements before and during games.
Coordinate with broadcast production team to retrieve necessary angles for conclusive review.
Remain impartial and uphold the highest standards of competitive integrity. |

Based remotely in the Grand Rapids area, this position is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and enrolling prospective undergraduate students primarily from the western half of Michigan's southern lower peninsula.
