FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Executive Director, and working closely with Academy/public school leaders/staff and University departments/staff members, coordinate the delivery of, or provide, support services for outreach events and engagement efforts. The position focuses on coordinating events, bridging connections, and fostering shared educational opportunities to strengthen partnerships, attendance, and student success between the University and our partner schools. Engages stakeholders by showcasing the advantages of LSSU-authorized charter schools, including access to scholarships and continued education options.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the Charter Schools Office (CSO), Admissions and partner schools to execute a comprehensive recruitment and outreach plan
- Represent LSSU at outreach or engagement events with our partner schools
- Act as the primary connection between CSO, partner schools, and LSSU campus departments to coordinate, communicate, and support the planning and implementation of activities, events, and engagement opportunities between LSSU, CS,O and partner schools
- Support LSSU Academy students by promoting awareness of Lake Superior State University’s post-secondary programs, assisting with the enrollment application process, and guiding students in identifying and pursuing financial aid opportunities.
- Assist in tracking and reporting student participation, success, feedback, and program outcomes for these services
- Assist in the creation and distribution of communication, materials, and marketing items for use and distribution at outreach events and engagement efforts
- Collaborate (monthly, or as often as needed) with CSO campus partners to bridge communication and connection between University events and partner schools. CSO campus partners include but are not limited to: Arts Center, Camps, CFRE, School of Education, Student Life, Athletics, GLSW planning, and Advancement.
- Provide support to supervising field representatives, assist with compliance tasks, and serve as backup for processing state aid and related administrative duties.
- Assist with CSO tasks or duties, as assigned by the Executive Director, including but not limited to website, social media, quarterly newsletter, holiday card contest, accreditation, etc.
- Coordinate and represent the CSO at local and state-level events, both internal and external, related to charter schools and authorizer activities.
- Adhere to University policy and procedure
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree or equivalent related experience; excellent organizational skills; good oral and written communication skills including the ability to present to large and small groups; basic familiarity with technology including the ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite, social media, etc; excellent interpersonal, listening and observational skills; ability to travel to multiple locations and attend events or engagement efforts at various times including evenings or weekends; ability to work collaboratively or independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to dynamic environments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree; experience with K-12 outreach or admissions; familiarity with charter schools or K-12 education systems in Michigan.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
Adequate physical fitness to maintain long hours and busy schedule; use of gross motor skills to perform organization duties; use of fine motor skills in operation of keyboard equipment; problem solving ability; ability to understand and work with numbers; ability to see, hear and speak with or without the use of aids to perform normal office tasks; mental capacity to assist with numerous administrative responsibilities; ability to travel to multiple locations and attend public school academy functions at various times including evenings or weekends.
