Position Summary

Elon University, an independent institution nationally recognized as a model for engaged learning, invites applications for a Clinical Coordinator in Clinical Mental Health Counseling for its new CACREP-aligned Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program, launching Fall 2026. The CMHC program, housed within Elon’s School of Health Sciences, emphasizes ethical and culturally responsive practice, addiction and trauma counseling, integrated care, and experiential learning—reflecting Elon University’s mission of engaged, student-centered education. This is a 12-month staff appointment with faculty rank. Rank will be determined at the time of hire based on the individual's qualifications and relevant professional and academic experience. The Clinical Coordinator for the Master of Science in the CMHC program plays a vital role in the administration and coordination of this graduate program. This position supports the Program Director, faculty, and students in delivering a high-quality, student-centered academic experience.

The coordinator ensures timely academic and operational support, effective communication, and collaboration across institutional units to sustain a rigorous and accessible program experience for online learners, and to sustain a rigorous and accessible program experience that prepares online learners for effective clinical practice. The program is pursuing accreditation through CACREP, and the Clinical Coordinator will play an important role in supporting accreditation efforts and maintaining alignment with emerging CACREP standards.

Responsibilities
• Supervising students as they move through their clinical placements.
• Maintaining compliance with CACREP Section 4 - Professional Practice.
• Serve as liaison between program and training sites and clinical supervisors.
• Teaching graduate-level counseling courses as assigned.
• Collaborating with CMHC faculty on curriculum implementation, program evaluation, and accreditation efforts.
• Advising and mentoring students.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
• A minimum of a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from a CACREP-accredited program.
• LCMHC in NC, or license eligible in NC.
• LCAS license
• Experience and training related to in-person and/or distance counseling supervision.
• Willingness to learn technologies utilized for clinical supervision.

Preferred Education and Experience

Preferred Qualifications
• NC Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS) or Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) credentials.
• Demonstrated proficiency in technologies utilized for clinical supervision.
• Experience in supervision of counseling practicum and/or internship.

Job Duties

• Coordinate all aspects of practicum and internship preparation, student placement, clinical readiness, and ongoing support to facilitate successful clinical education experiences
• Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with community agencies, site supervisors, and healthcare partners to ensure high-quality clinical placement opportunities.
• Monitor compliance with CACREP standards, NC Criteria C requirements, university policies, state licensure requirements, and clinical documentation to support accreditation and program quality.
• Teach assigned courses--especially addiction courses, provide clinical supervision and mentorship, and foster students’ professional identity, ethical practice, multicultural competence and clinical skills development.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and university partners to coordinate clinical education processes, policies, student remediation, and program initiatives across instructional sites, including Elon and Charlotte campuses.
• Participate in program assessment, data collection, curriculum evaluation, accreditation reporting and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
