Salary/Position Classification

  • 21.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

Purpose of Position

As part of a cooperative project with the MN Department of Natural Resources, we will be conducting waterfowl and water bird surveys to evaluate their responses to cattail management at wetlands

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys using acoustic recording units and uncrewed aerial systems (UAS). 

Required Competencies

  • Background in basic bird surveys
  • Ability to work in early morning on weekends and weekdays
  • Ability to work independently and in teams

Minimum Requirements

  • Pursuing or obtained a BS in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid FAA Part 107 UAS license
  • Background in basic bird surveys
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

  • Interest in game bird ecology and management
  • Interest in habitat management
  • Experience with GIS and GPS
  • Experience in program R
  • Experience in identification of waterfowl and other wetland birds
