  • $15.00/hr - $18.00/hr depending on qualifications and performance. hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Assist University of North Dakota researchers in developing methods to utilize industrial residues for carbon dioxide (CO2) capture.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory tests to assess the CO2 capture efficacy of industrial residues 
  • Perform experimental analyses on materials using advanced material characterization tools before/after processing to identify physical and chemical changes 
  • Assist in outreach activities to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) 

Required Competencies

  • Appreciation for interdisciplinary approaches, with the ability to connect scientific concepts with social and economic implications of using industrial wastes to capture CO2
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaboration with team members and potential outreach activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of researchers and professionals.
  • Initiative and eagerness to learn in a research setting
  • Awareness of ethical considerations in scientific research, including safety protocols and responsible conduct

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Ability to commit 10-20 hours per week on tasks
  • Demonstrated interest in engaging with disadvantaged or minority communities and an understanding of social science concepts as they pertain to furthering equity and inclusion for all
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new software programs
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
