Purpose of Position
The Coordinator of the Aerospace Success Center (ASC) provides leadership and management in all aspects of ASC, including supervising the professional advisers in the college. Primary roles include the recruitment of new students, aiding in the retention and advising of current students and overseeing the audits of graduating students to ensure that each meets the requirements for graduation. This person will also serve as the primary liaison to related UND offices such as UND Student Academic Services and Career Engagement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Aerospace Success Center:
- Responsible for the supervision and training of staff in the day-to-day operations of the Aerospace Success Center (ASC).
- Ensure ASC goals align with School and University strategic plans.
- Work with staff to develop and implement policies and guidelines to ensure that ASC is functioning as a student-centered office in compliance with University and School requirements.
- Assist with student petitions and appeals.
- Coordinate student advising and training for faculty and ASC staff training on advising policies and procedures.
- Prepare annual advising survey for the School and assist in the dissemination and analysis of the survey data.
- Coordinate new student transition for undergraduate students.
- Provides oversight for the promotion and visibility of ASC, including updates to the School website pages. - (50%)
- Supports Student Retention and Graduation:
- Support Student Retention through to Graduation.
- Ensure ASC staff are utilizing the University’s retention tools (i.e. Hawk Central, Campus Connection, and Degree Map) to their full capacity as appropriate.
- Evaluate student advisement processes to ensure students are receiving proper support and assistance in order to be successful and graduate on time.
- Assist with analysis of PowerBI/Hawk Central data as it relates to student retention o Work with faculty advisors to ensure that advising notes are maintained in student records and student retention and graduation initiatives are being followed.
- Responsible for the administration of the Aerospace Academic Intervention and Recovery (AIR) Plan process. o Responsible for auditing graduation reports. o Coordinate and plan programs to aid in student persistence.
- Assist with the development and delivery of college orientation courses for new students - (20%)
- General Aerospace Academic Advising:
- Provide academic, degree program and career advising for current on campus and online undergraduate aerospace programs including knowledge of all degree requirements
- Understand needs of various student populations.
- Advise incoming aerospace students during the summer orientation program in coordination with UND’s Student Academic Success & Career Engagement.
- Meet with students and be available for walk-ins at the Aerospace Success Center
- Understand and accurately communicate policies and procedures to advisees.
- Respond to telephone and email inquiries regarding the aerospace programs and procedures. • Assist in auditing students’ progress towards graduation.
- Understand and accurately communicate resources available to students and refer to these services when needed. - (25%)
- Participation in student centered events and professional development:
- Participation in graduation ceremonies and open houses.
- Participation in regional/national recruiting events.
- Complete online and in-person professional development training events and workshops. - (5%)

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Three years of academic advising or related experience
- Experience in a higher education environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office including: Word, Excel, Outlook, & PowerPoint
- Supervisor experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Five years or more related work experience supervisory and managing professional staff in student services, human services, or related field
- Experience with UND, Aerospace, and/or Aviation
