Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Assistant PI in performing numerical simulations to study the plasma behavior in Langmuir probe and other low-temperature plasma applications using kineti based particle-in-cell method.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learn high performance computing environment, Linux operating system, and numerical methods and simulation workflows needed for the research work
  • Prepare and set up simulation, including geometry and mesh generation
  • Perform numerical simulations using in-house developed computer code
  • Process simulation results, create a research report and write research papers for publication. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science student;
  • Good CAD skills 
  • Familiar with Python or C++ programming language
  • Relevant coursework in Fluid Mechanics, Mathematics, and Computer Science.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
