Position Summary:

Oklahoma City University seeks applicants for core faculty positions in the Physical Therapy program to deliver a high-quality educational experience for physical therapy doctoral students consistent with the program’s objectives, goals, and learning outcomes. Faculty positions are 12-month tenure or non-tenure track at the assistant or associate professor rank beginning May 28, 2024Position status and rank will be determined upon the qualifications of the incumbent and the needs of the program.   

Duties, Responsibilities, and Teaching Requirements 

  • Design and teach academic courses in area(s) of content expertise ensuring a high quality of clinical education for PT students. 
  • Engage in scholarly and service activities, consistent with university, program, and CAPTE expectations for core faculty. 
  • Contribute to program and curriculum assessment and planning activities. 
  • Serve on university committees and support university initiatives and activities as assigned. 

Qualifications 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • A doctoral degree, either (i) post-professional or (ii) DPT with advanced clinical specialization 
  • Appropriate licensure or licensure eligibility 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a licensed physical therapist  
  • Strong communication, organizational & interpersonal skills; ability to identify and solve problems  
  • Contemporary expertise in clinical practice area  
  • Experience with designing and conducting independent or collaborative research in area of clinical expertise 

Preferred Additional Education and Experience:

  • Teaching and expertise in musculoskeletal conditions  
  • Advanced clinical specialization 
  • Residency and/or fellowship 
  • An ongoing scholarly agenda  
  • 3 years prior teaching experience in a physical therapy academic program  
  • Active involvement in professional activities at the local, state or national level 

About the Program 

The Physical Therapy Program provides an eight-semester curriculum, comprising didactic and clinical education to prepare students as entry-level generalists who are capable of being a professional member of inter-professional teams in a variety of settings. The didactic portion of the curriculum provides a strong foundation in basic, applied, and physical therapy science courses. The clinical portion of the curriculum includes service-learning, integrated clinical experience, and part-time and full-time clinical experiences.
