Classification Summary:
• Teach fall and spring semesters.
• Teach day, evenings, weekends, and/or multiple campus locations as needed.
• Develop, revise and update curriculum in collaboration with the department faculty and chair.
• Teach online courses.
-Instruct, support, and provide timely feedback to students in accordance with DACC policy and procedures.
• Maintain professional and academic competence and participate in professional development activities.
• Maintain office hours as mandated by division and college policy.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Classification Standard Duties:
Teach fall and spring semesters.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
· Masters degree or higher in Writing, English, or a related field
· Three or more years’ experience teaching collegiate writing/composition
· Ability to teach ENGL 1110G: Composition, ENGL 2210G: Technical and Professional Communication, and/or ENGL 2221G, Writing in the Humanities and Social Sciences
· Significant experience with online teaching

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with multilingual students and/or specialization in Second Language Writing and/or adult learners
· Experience teaching Developmental Writing/Composition
· Experience teaching general education courses (e.g. Composition, Writing in the Humanities & Social Sciences, Professional and Technical Communication and/or related courses)
• Knowledge of innovative, creative teaching and learning methodologies for post-secondary students
• Experience with quality online teaching and learning, and familiar with learning management systems
• Experience in developing curriculum and assessing and improving student learning
• Demonstrated experience teaching and relating to students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with students, colleagues, staff, supervisors, and the community

Special Requirements of the Position
This is a temporary appoitment with a pre determined end date not to exceed 1 year and is subject to earlier termination if neccessary. Temporary Employees have no entitlement or expectation of continued employment during or beyond the appointment period . Position may average up to 29 hours per week. New Mexico retirees may have different FTE requiremnets, but still shall not exceed an FTE of 0.74
