Summary: DACC, a responsive, accessible, comprehensive, learning-centered community college that provides education opportunities to a diverse community of learners is inviting candidates to apply for the following vacant position. This is a temporary appointment with a pre-determined end date not to exceed 1 year and is subject to an earlier termination if necessary. Temporary employees have no entitlement or expectation of continued employment during or beyond the appointment period. Position may average up to 29 hours per week.
Classification Summary:
Under direct supervision, performs defined tasks and/or services comprising one or more components of a library operational unit. Provides technical support and assistance in the performance of routine library duties in one or more library specializations, such as circulation, reference, archives, technical services, and collection maintenance.
Classification Standard Duties:
Provides guidance and assistance to patrons regarding general and specific information about the library and library resources. With minimal supervision, performs and/or oversees routine tasks, utilizing automated database systems, to include materials check-in, circulation, searching, ordering of materials, and/or copy cataloging. Resolves routine operational problems and provides first-level troubleshooting of relevant library systems. Assists higher level staff and librarians with basic reference services; staffs public service desks, providing customer service and assistance. Carries out and communicates policies pertaining to unit services, operations, and activities. Assists with collection maintenance activities and projects as appropriate. May lead, guide, and train student employees, set work schedules, and ensure compliance with established procedures for a specific activity within a library unit. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education:High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience:Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification/License:

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provides frontline Circulation services to library users. Uses the automated Integrated Library System, Alma/Primo, to check out, check in, and renew library materials. Articulates and interprets Circulation policies and procedures to library users.
Enforces library policies. Creates accounts for community borrowers. Assists patrons in accessing library materials-physical and digitial items and Course Reserves.
Informs patrons of account issues such as overdue items and missing/lost materials.
Identifies and retrieves materials from the Reserves Collection for library users and reshelves them when returned. Assists patrons in using the photocopiers and scanners.
Answers Circulation Desk telephone as necessary and gives basic information or directs the question to appropriate staff or librarian. Opens or closes the library if working during the first or last shifts. Maintains photocopiers/printers including adding paper, clearing paper jams, changing toner, etc. Responds to directional and information inquiries and refers patrons to Reference Librarians as needed.
Performs initial search for missing materials and forwards results to Circulation Supervisor. Shelf-reads Collection to ensure materials are shelved in correct call number order according to the Library of Congress system of classification. Keeps appropriate statistics of library users. Checks exterior library book drop. Schedules and manages reservations for library study rooms. Participates in library inventories as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Standard Work Schedule: Shift: Other Shift
If Not a Standard Work Schedule: 3pm-7pm Monday-Thursday with some Saturday coverage, 10am-2pm.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.
Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
