Summary: Seeking a dynamic individual to work in a fast-paced academic office. This position supports coordinating student support services for the College of ACES
Classification Summary:
Under limited supervision, develops, implements, and oversees a range of integrated special programs and initiatives designed to assist in the recruitment and retention of graduate and/or undergraduate students within an underrepresented target population or college. Responsible for the internal and external promotion and representation of program activities. Coordinates and provides support services to student participants as appropriate to program activities.
Classification Standard Duties:
Plans, develops, and coordinates student support programs, special projects, and other initiatives geared to the recruitment and retention of students within the targeted student population or college. Oversees and administers all facets of the day-to-day operations of the various programs and activities related to the position. Serves as primary liaison with internal and external contacts on all matters relating to the program(s) activities; represents the program(s) on a local, regional, and/or national basis. Provides and/or coordinates financial aid scholarship disbursement, academic advisement, career advisement, and/or related support to students participating in the programs; acts as student advocate, and provides day-to-day problem solving as necessary. Oversees and/or coordinates the collection and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits, and presents statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations. May plans, develops, and implements strategies for identifying and generating funding and/or resource opportunities for program activities, to include development of grant and other fundraising proposals. Participates in the development of goals and objectives; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate to the unit. Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
This position is focused on providing services within the College of ACES. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of various programs and activities that support this goal. Responsibilities include coordinating student support services such as financial aid and scholarship information, academic and career information, and serving as a student advocate to address individual concerns. The role also involves collecting, analyzing, and reporting program data through statistical and narrative reports and evaluations. They contribute to setting program goals and objectives and are responsible for recommending and implementing procedures to improve operations.
Student Event Planning & Coordination: Assist with the design and implement targeted recruitment initiatives on-campus, throughout NM, in the SW region (TX, AZ, CO, CA). Examples: Arrange (details, staffing, travel, etc.) and coordinate ACES recruitment at state and county fairs and other state-wide or regional events; Liaison/coordinate recruitment efforts with other NMSU units (ACES departments, Admissions, Financial Aid, CES); etc.
Student Retention: Assist with coordinating various efforts/initiatives/programs to improve student retention in ACES. Examples: Coordinate (staffing/financing, etc.) a variety of college-wide events such as Welcome Home Aggies and ACES Night Out; Oversee Sam Steel Welcoming and Induction ceremonies; serve as a liaison to internal and external partners involved in student success initiatives.
Marketing, Communication, and Promotion: Lead the development and dissemination of promotional materials, including newsletters, brochures, digital content, and event announcements; manage and regularly update the ACES Academic Programs web presence and social media platforms to ensure alignment with strategic messaging; implement targeted marketing campaigns to support student recruitment and retention goals.
Administrative Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for the Academic Programs Office, greeting and directing students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner; respond to general inquiries and connect individuals to appropriate staff or resources; provide comprehensive administrative support for office operations, including file management, supply inventory, data entry, and document preparation; support budget tracking, reporting, and procurement processes as directed; assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean.
