Summary:  DACC, a responsive, accessible, comprehensive, learning-centered community college is inviting candidates to apply for the following vacant position: CC Lab Tech, Criminal Justice

Classification Summary:
Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of routine instructional functions for on-line courses, classroom settings or laboratory settings.May need to troubleshoot computer hardware and software. May complete set up of chemical, microbiological/maintenance labs to include reagent and media preparation with all associated QA/QC. Assists students in use of equipment and tools. Assist with student advising. Covers classes as needed in the absence of the instructor.

Classification Standard Duties:
Assist faculty in the individualized instruction of students in the labs; assure student safety; Perform or schedule preventative maintenance/repair of equipment and tools within program of study; Assure all equipment is working prior to use; Duties usually consist of tutoring, maintaining supplies, supervising labs, and training and supervising student employees. Train and supervise student employees in their job responsibilities and how to safely conduct themselves in the laboratory; May conduct or schedule preventative maintenance and/ or repair of all equipment/tools within respective program of study. Set up reagent/microbiological media;Maintains inventories of equipment,chemicals, tools,and supplies; Order inventory, chemicals, equipment, media and supplies; Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets as needed or required. Demonstrate to students processes and skills with material being taught in classroom. May grade student assignments, quizzes, and exams as required. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Required Education:High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience:Four (4) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; Equivalency:Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of experimental procedures, protocols, and preparation techniques within area of specialty; Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements; Knowledge of the cleaning specifications of various laboratory equipment, fixtures, utensils, and related materials.; SKILLS:Skill in providing guidance and instruction in laboratory protocols and in the safe use of laboratory equipment.; ABILITIES:Ability to follow routine verbal or written instructions; Ability to set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain standard laboratory and test equipment; Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Excellent communication skills.
Advising students for the CJ/LAWE and FIRE programs.
Placing students in/out of classes.
Cancellation of, removal of, and contacting of students when classes are cancelled.
Accessing and reviewing student degree audits.
Track, issue and file certificates that students have earned.
Assist full-time and part-time faculty with the preparation of classes in all modalities.
Assist faculty with development, design, and maintenance of canvas courses.
Maintain and make changes to the program’s websites.
Learn how to use the Navigate system in order to remove/add and view student schedules.
Review degree audits, prepare student sub-waivers and incomplete forms.
Coordinate with the bookstore for each semesters textbook adoptions.
Coordinate orders for office supplies as needed.
Coordinate with IT for technology issues and new equipment orders.
Assist with the preparation of course schedules.
Cover classes as needed for full-time and part-time instructors.
Maintains spreadsheets on student tracking, equipment, and other items as needed.
Assists with recruiting events throughout the year.
Participates in division, department, and advisory meetings.
Acts as a steward for the college advocating for the programs and maintains a high level of professionalism.
Able to use a college Credit card if needed to order supplies and other important items related to the programs.
Good organizational skills.
Good typing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in using NMSU Banner, Cognos, and Navigate systems.
Experience in using Word and Excel.
Experience in a community college setting.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Degree from an accredited Institution of Higher Education.
Knowledge in CANVAS Learning Module System.

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.
