Job Duties and Responsibilities: This technician-level position supports senior safety specialists and EHS&RM leadership in the daily operations of Environmental Health, Safety & Risk Management (EHS&RM) programs.
Primary responsibilities include supporting fire and security alarm operations and fire and life safety compliance, but may also include general safety operations, hazardous material inventory management, hazardous waste disposal, environmental compliance, safety inspections, safety training, and other regulatory compliance activities.
Additional duties include:
• Supporting immediate field response to troubleshoot and ensure proper alarm operations, including potential after-hours response.
• Assisting with vendor coordination and building access during compliance testing, repair and maintenance.
• Assist in maintaining safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and personal protective equipment.
• Assisting with routine and non-routine safety and regulatory inspections, formal assessments, and hazard identification in university facilities.
• Communicating with the university community to provide guidance on EHS&RM protocols, procedures, and training.
• Performs other related duties as required.

This position has been established as a primary key position under the “All Hazard Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP)” and is essential to operational continuity and/or recovery. In an emergency situation, primary key positions are required to report to work unless directed by supervisor or public safety authorities not to report for health and safety reasons. Position requires a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Environment: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Risk: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
