Bargaining Unit Announcement: This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Standard Work Schedule: Shift: Other Shift

If Not a Standard Work Schedule: Admissions Services hours are from 8am-6pm M-Th, and 8am-5pm F. Individual schedules will be determined by the employee and supervisor, individuals will not be required to work more than 40 hours per week without prior notice.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Testing Coordinator supports the daily operations of the DACC Testing Center by assisting with the scheduling, coordination, and proctoring of exams for students, faculty, staff, and community members. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a secure and professional testing environment while ensuring full compliance with institutional and external testing policies and procedures.

• Assists in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Testing Center, including scheduling, staffing, and service delivery. Helps develop, update, and implement policies, procedures, and testing schedules in coordination with the supervisor to meet institutional and agency requirements.
• Maintains the integrity and security of the testing environment. Communicates policies and procedures to students, faculty, staff, and the community.
• Assists in coordinating and oversees test proctoring services for DACC departments, external certification agencies, and other academic institutions.
• Administers, proctors, scores, and transmits results for all tests offered through the Testing Center.
• Ensures strict compliance with federal, state, college, and testing agency policies regarding the confidentiality and security of testing records, including adherence to FERPA.
• Maintains and secures testing materials by performing regular inventory, ensuring secure storage, and returning test materials to appropriate agencies.
• Assists in maintaining documentation, ensures compliance with third-party testing standards, and responds to vendor inquiries regarding technical or quality issues. Monitors and updates candidate eligibility and testing scores through national and state tracking systems.
• Acts as a liaison with the Department of Education GED Office.
• Trains new employees in GED/HiSET, TOEFL, CLEP for certification
• Tracks and analyzes testing data, including the number and types of tests administered. Prepare monthly and annual reports and provide the supervisor with recommendations for program improvements.
• Participates in professional development opportunities to remain current with best practices in testing and certification standards. Support college initiatives related to graduation, recruitment, and retention efforts.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
High School diploma + 1 years of relevant experience, or higher degree.

Special Certification/Licensure: 
Must be able to obtain NMSU Drivers permit within 6 months of hire.
