Bargaining Unit Announcement: This is NOT a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Contingent Upon Funding: Contingent upon external funding

Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts experiments, data analysis and summation under the direction of the laboratory director for research projects of the Research Cores Program.  Analyzes and interprets data using statistical tools and methodologies, ensuring accuracy and relevance.  Works with faculty, students, and other researchers to support ongoing projects and fosters interdisciplinary collaboration. Provides guidance and training to undergraduate and graduate students involved in research projects. Prepares reports and presentations to communicate research findings to stakeholders, including academic and professional audiences. Ensures that all research activities comply with ethical standards and institutional guidelines. Supports the daily operations of research facilities, including maintenance of equipment and ensuring safety protocols. Stays current with scientific literature and advancements in the field relevant to the research focus. Engages with the broader community to promote research initiatives and disseminate findings.  Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
Bachelor's degree + 5 years of relevant experience.

Equivalent Qualifications: 
N/A

Preferred Qualifications: 
PhD or equivalent in the field of environmental and water research with a focus on high resolution mass spectrometry techniques. 1 year post PhD of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements: i.e. extreme temp, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, other potentially dangerous materials/situations that require safety precaution/protective equip

Physical Effort: No or very limited physical effort required.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.

Risk: Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
