Advertising Summary: New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service is seeking a motivated and community-focused County Program Assistant to support educational programs and outreach efforts in Lea County. This position will assist with planning, coordinating, and delivering Extension programs that address local community needs, provide educational resources, and promote positive outcomes for youth, families, agriculture, and community members.

Target Hourly/Salary Rate: $16.83

Appointment Full-time Equivalency: 1.0

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Bargaining Unit Announcement: This is a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Contingent Upon Funding: Not Applicable

Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Provide programs, under direction of county extension agent, in the areas of 4-H, Family & Consumer Sciences and Agriculture. Assist extension agents at County Fairs, local programs and events and school enrichment. Plan, prepare PowerPoint presentations, and deliver educational programs to youth and adults. Keeps records and writes reports of work planned and completed. Enter enrollment and conference registration into the 4-H Plus software program. Answer telephone and greet public giving general information regarding all extension programs. Sort and distribute incoming mail. Type routine letters, labels, and similar items from rough draft or clear copy. File correspondence, memoranda, reports and other materials. Maintain routine clerical records, logs and data and compile routine reports. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
High School diploma or higher degree.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Physical Effort: No or very limited physical effort required.
