The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Marketing & Communications Manager who wants to make a significant impact within a respected, mission-driven aged care organisation. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Projects and Change Management, you will drive the development and execution of innovative marketing and communication strategies to elevate the UPA brand and deepen community engagement. This role is pivotal in strategically shaping and amplifying UPA's voice, brand, and reputation. You will drive impactful marketing and communications initiatives aligned with UPA's strategic objectives and mission, designed to connect with our community, enhance stakeholder engagement, and position UPA as a leader in aged care.
You will play a lead role in managing and executing all internal and external communications including drafting and scripting for the CEO when requested, overseeing the publication of UPA's quarterly newsletter, and internal engagement through the SharePoint platform. You will also support org-wide change projects through developing and delivering communication strategies to support effective change management.
In this high-profile role, you will:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate integrated marketing and communications plans aligned with the UPA Strategic Plan and business objectives.
- Lead the development and execution of strategies to build, manage, and maintain a strong, consistent UPA brand identity and positive reputation.
- Develop and execute strategies to manage and enhance UPA's online presence, including website content management, optimisation (SEO/SEM), and social media.
- Oversee the planning, creation, and dissemination of high-quality, engaging, and accurate content for various internal and external channels.
- Develop and implement effective internal communications strategies to ensure staff are informed, engaged, and aligned with organisational messages.
- Provide effective leadership, direction, and support to the Graphic Design Officer.
- Manage the marketing and communications budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and tracking.
- Manage proactive and reactive media relations, including crisis/issues communication as required.
This role may require occasional travel to UPA sites across NSW in order to undertake the duties of their role.

What you bring

You are capable and able to apply your expertise to mould and grow the marketing and communications portfolio, set strategy and elevate UPA's brand to the next level.
Essential:
- Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a marketing and communications role, demonstrating strong strategic capability and hands-on execution.
- Demonstrated success in developing, implementing, and evaluating integrated marketing and communication strategies that achieve organisational objectives, including experience in reputation and issues management.
- Strong expertise in digital marketing, including website management (CMS), SEO/SEM, social media strategy and channel management (especially LinkedIn), and digital analytics.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate content for diverse platforms.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent project management, organisational, and time management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities, budgets, and deadlines effectively.
- Experience in leading and managing staff or providing significant guidance/mentorship.
- High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with marketing software.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and demonstrate a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
Desirable:
- Experience within the aged care, health, community services, or not-for-profit sector.
- Direct experience in crisis communications and managing media relations in sensitive environments.
- Knowledge of media relations principles and practices.
- Experience developing and executing internal communications plans.
- Experience in managing external agency and vendor relationships.
