The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced IT Cloud and Security Engineer to join our Technology Operations team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on solving complex security challenges, building resilient cloud infrastructure, and ensuring that technology systems remain secure, compliant, and scalable. Reporting to the Technology Operations and Security Manager, you’ll be responsible for implementing and maintaining robust security controls, managing cloud platforms (particularly Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365), and supporting continuous improvement across UPA’s IT environment.

 

What You’ll Do
• Manage and enhance security operations — vulnerability management, incident response, endpoint protection, patching, SIEM, DLP, and MFA.
• Design, implement, and maintain Azure infrastructure and services, ensuring security, governance, and compliance with frameworks such as Essential 8, ISO 27001, and NIST CSF.
• Automate and optimise IT processes using PowerShell or equivalent scripting tools.
• Lead and support cloud migration, optimisation, and security uplift projects.
• Conduct internal security audits and collaborate with external vendors, auditors, and penetration testers.
• Contribute to the development of IT policies, disaster recovery processes, and business continuity planning.
• Deliver cybersecurity awareness training and phishing simulation programs across the organisation.

 

About You
You are a proactive and detail-oriented professional who enjoys working collaboratively in a mission-based organisation. You bring strong technical expertise and a genuine passion for cloud and cybersecurity excellence.

 

Essential skills and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience (5–10 years).
• 5+ years’ hands-on experience in IT security operations.
• 3+ years’ experience managing large-scale cloud and security environments.
• Certifications such as CISSP or CCSP highly regarded.
• Proficiency with tools such as firewalls, vulnerability scanners, Azure AD, Office 365, MFA, and PAM.
• Strong understanding of Azure governance, cloud security architecture, and compliance frameworks.
• Scripting and automation skills (e.g. PowerShell).
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

 

Desirable:
• Experience with VMware, Microsoft, or Citrix administration.
• Familiarity with IaC tools (e.g. Terraform or Bicep).
• Network and firewall management experience.
• Exposure to cloud cost optimisation and infrastructure project coordination.
