The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Casual Chef to join our team at Gumleigh Gardens Aged Care Facility in Wagga Wagga.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys creating nutritious, high-quality meals while making a genuine difference in the lives of older people. Weekend availability is essential.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering meals that meet residents’ dietary and nutritional needs while maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards.

What You’ll Bring

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in bulk cooking, preferably within aged care, healthcare, or hospitality
  • Strong understanding of Food Safety Standards and HACCP compliance
  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery/Hospitality
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • Knowledge of special dietary requirements and texture-modified meals
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • A genuine commitment to person-centred care and resident wellbeing
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Flexibility to work weekend shifts

Desirable

  • Previous experience in aged care
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Understanding of Aged Care Quality Standards

The successful candidate will be required to:
