General Information:
The Department of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies at James Madison University offers a dynamic Bachelor’s of Science in Health Sciences curriculum. The Health Sciences major is designed for students interested in understanding the causes of disease, strategies for promoting wellness and behavior change, and the scientific basis and methodologies for analyzing health concerns for both individuals and populations. Upon degree completion, graduates are prepared for immediate employment in multiple allied health areas or a pathway to graduate studies in a variety of disciplines, including medicine, optometry, pharmacy, nursing, public health, and other professional preparation programs. The successful candidate will join a strong and engaged faculty committed to inclusive excellence at one of the nation’s outstanding public universities. The position has an anticipated start date in January 2025 (for spring semester classes), with the flexibility of beginning in August 2025 (for fall semester classes).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
• Teach undergraduate Health Sciences courses within the general education curriculum, large sections (>150 students each) of HTH 100. Personal Wellness, a 3-credit course option in the General Education - Sociocultural and Wellness Area.
• Teach undergraduate courses within the Health Sciences major curriculum.
• Participate in service at the departmental, college, and university levels.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
• Earned Master’s degree in health sciences, health education and promotion, public health, or related field
• Demonstrate excellence in teaching
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior university teaching experience
• Prior experience and/or expertise teaching large classes
• Maintenance of the CHES and/or CPH credential
