General Information:
The Occupational Therapy Clinical Education Services (OTCES) is a pediatric clinic providing one-on-one occupational therapy evaluations, interventions, and consultative services, as well as group programs and camps offered to meet the needs of the community. With an academic connection to Department of Health Professions and a clinical connection to the Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services, OTCES serves as a teaching-learning environment for students from many different programs while meeting distinct community needs.
We are seeking an occupational therapist assistant to provide client care and supervision to occupational therapy students. This position will work collaboratively with the Clinic Director, Assistant Clinic Director, OTCES staff, and Occupational Therapy program faculty. OTCES promotes access, inclusion, and diversity for all clients, staff, faculty, and students. The clinic and university is interested in candidates whose experience and qualifications support an ongoing commitment to these core qualities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists in carrying out occupational therapy treatment programs for clients under the direction and supervision of licensed occupational therapists
• Assists the OTCES Director, Assistant Director and Clinic Supervisor with daily operations of the clinic
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) education, obtained in an accredited program
• Current Virginia State licensure; NBCOT certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS – CPR) Certification
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
Additional Considerations
• Clinical experience in pediatric practice
• Clinical practice in an outpatient pediatric setting
• Experience developing and implementing specialized groups for children
• Experience with or a commitment to interprofessional/interdisciplinary practice
