General Information:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS) at James Madison University (JMU) seeks an audiologist to join our team as a clinical faculty member. This is a full-time, 12-month, renewable term appointment (RTA) at the rank of Lecturer.
Clinical faculty members at James Madison University play a critical role in clinical supervision, academic instruction, and professional service. Opportunities exist to collaborate in clinical research, program development, and related scholarship.
The desired start date is June 25, 2025.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Core duties will include clinical supervision and teaching, assistance in clinic operations, and participation in academic teaching and departmental service. Responsibilities include:
• Provide clinical education to students through direct clinical supervision and classroom teaching related to clinical methods
• Provide direct, billable clinical services in the JMU Audiology Clinic and complete required documentation
• Determine clinical direction for supervised patient encounters and provide feedback regarding student clinical performance
• Collaborate with clinical, academic, and research faculty to ensure continuity of instruction
• Participate as a member of the clinical operations team which includes the Audiology Clinical Education Coordinator, SLP Director of Clinical Education, fellow clinical educators, and clinic administrative staff.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Doctoral Degree in Audiology (Au.D. and/or Ph.D.)
• Commonwealth of Virginia Audiology License (or eligibility to obtain before employment start date)
• Commonwealth of Virginia Hearing Aid Specialist License (or eligibility to obtain before employment start date)
• Current ASHA CCC-A
• Three years clinical experience
• Experience in precepting students
• Potential for excellence in clinical teaching
• Evidence of strong collaboration skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Demonstration of inclusive excellence in teaching, clinical supervision, and working/advising/mentoring with students
• Ability to adapt to changing student, department and university needs
• Commitment to continued learning and implementation of evidence-based practice
Preferred:
• Demonstrated commitment to clinical education and pedagogy
