General Information:
JMU's Facilities Management department currently has an opening for an IT Installation/Repair Tech. This is an in-office only position. The IT installation/Repair Tech will provide technical support for computer hardware/software application systems and networking applications. This position will train FM staff on various computer best practices along with communicating and collaborating with the University Information Technology staff as a departmental technical liaison.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
•Providing of support for hardware applications related to new computer/printer installation and repair
•Responding to work orders concerning IT equipment
•Creating and maintaining Active Directory GPOs in support of departmental employees, computers, printers and scanners
•Maintaining inventory of FM hardware/software and supporting the department computer fixed asset inventory
•Organizing, maintaining and auditing of FM equipment
•Assisting with the Assetworks Aim client support
•Creating and maintaining of departmental procedures
•Providing of on going training for departmental staff and agency customers
•Serving as departmental liaison between end users and software/hardware technician representatives
•Assisting with new software/hardware installation related to FM Engineering projects
•Providing of technical management and support for presentations within department
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
•Ability to diagnose routine computer operations problems
•Ability to provide training for network users in PC applications and provide consulting and user support services to networked customers
•Experience with data processing operations
•Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
•Experience with data communications networks
•Experience using diagnostic software
•Ability to work independently and in a team environment
•Experienced in hardware/software troubleshooting
•Ability to pass and maintain a Dell Certification within 1 year after being hired
•Valid driver's license
