General Information:
Payroll Services at James Madison University is accepting applications for a newly added position, Payroll Tax & Reconciliation Specialist.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position serves a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all foreign national payments, as well as preparing the 1042/1042S year-end tax documents. This position will manage the Job Data interface with the Cardinal HCM system, ensuring accuracy and integrity of key data points by reviewing Cardinal error reports; resolving discrepancies between Cardinal and PeopleSoft, submitting tickets where needed. The position will be responsible for completion of monthly US Department of Labor-Bureau of Labor Statistics reporting and the monthly DHRM reconciliation of health care plans, as well as, the quarterly health care remittance requirements. Timely completion of monthly checking account reconciliations for the Payroll and SRT accounts, ensuring liability accounts have been balanced. Position is also responsible for administering the taxation of fringe benefits, including tuition waivers, housing, automobiles, etc.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices, specifically as they relate to payroll processing and tax accounting
- Knowledge of international tax regulations, as they relate to personal service payments made to non-resident aliens
- Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word
- Ability to multi-task in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituents (both orally and in writing)
- Ability to uphold a high level of accuracy and data integrity
- Ability to work with a team and independently when necessary
Additional Considerations:
- PeopleSoft HRMS experience
- PeopleSoft Finance experience
Additional Posting Information:
This position is an in-person position and not available to be fully remote. Teleworking one day a week may be discussed.
