General Information:
The Department of Finance and Business Law in the College of Business at James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for a renewable term appointment with the rank of Lecturer in Business Law. The appointment begins in fall 2025. This is a full-time benefit-eligible position.
The Finance and Business Law Department is staffed by 17 full-time faculty with 14 faculty in finance and 3 in Business Law. The department serves both Finance and Quantitative Finance majors and college business law courses. FIN & BLAW faculty have received numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding teaching, service, and research.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of Finance and Business Law faculty providing instruction in the Business Law area, at the undergraduate level. The normal teaching load will be 4/4, i.e., four 3-credit courses each semester during the regular academic year. In addition to teaching, this position requires general service to the institution and the ability to maintain professional qualifications.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a J.D. In addition, a master’s degree in business is preferred. The candidate must provide evidence of significant and substantive professional work experience within the past five years relevant to the position or currently qualified as an instructional or scholarly practitioner at an AACSB institution. Prior teaching experience is not required but preferred.
