General Information:

The Creative Content Specialist will work with our dynamic marketing and communications team in shaping the visual identity of our college through photography, video, and digital storytelling. Focus will be on strategy, creation, sharing, monitoring and analyzing of content effectiveness. Through your lens, we’ll bring stories to life about our people, the energy, and experiences that shape our community.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create: Capture and produce high-quality photo and video content for web, social media, digital signage, and print – aligned with the JMU brand and college priorities.
• Collaborate: Work closely with writers, designers, and social media specialists to bring stories to life in a cohesive, engaging way.
• Edit & Deliver: Manage post-production workflows to ensure timely delivery of polished content.
• Organize: Maintain a well-structured archive of digital assets and carefully manage college-owned media equipment.
• Analyze: Monitor content performance and use insights to refine and evolve your creative strategy.
• Adapt: Be ready to cover events during evenings or weekends – where the best stories often unfold.

 

Qualifications:

• A strong digital portfolio showcasing your photography and videography skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in all phases of video production: planning, lighting, audio, shooting and editing.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere Pro and Lightroom.
• Proven photography skills and knowledge of DSLR cameras and lighting equipment.
• Flexibility to work nontraditional hours, including some early evenings and Saturday mornings based on event schedules and social media demands.
• Proven experience in media, marketing, communications, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
