General Information:

James Madison University's Facilities Management is currently seeking an Electrician. This position will perform technically and routine installation, repair, maintenance, and service of electrical equipment in university-owned buildings and other areas.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

•Providing service and repairs to the electrical distribution system
•Diagnosing problems, repair and maintaining a variety of electrical equipment
•Installing a variety of new equipment including complete electrical circuits to the equipment.
•Planning of workloads based on priorities
•Providing accurate and timely reports
•Ordering of electrical equipment, replacement parts, new parts, and supplies to maintain the ability to respond to normal and emergency tasks
•Coordinating with contractors and engineering staff to accomplish various electrical projects
•Ensuring the University's electrical systems are maintained to the highest standard

 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
•Knowledge of electric to include single phase, three phase and their applications
•Knowledge of electrical equipment and systems, practices and code compliance
•Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, conduit benders, meters, testers, recording devices, circuit tracers, and ladders
•Ability to read and work from blueprints
•Ability to do basic diagnosis, service and repair to various types of electrical equipment
•Moderate computer skills
•Valid Driver's license
•Availability to fulfill on-call obligations and accommodate any necessary temporary shift demands
