General Information:

JMU Facilities Management is accepting applications for a Carpet Cleaning Supervisor. The shift for this position is Monday – Friday, 9:00 p.m. – 5:30 a.m., with overtime as required for special events and inclement weather.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and supervise carpet cleaning operations for James Madison University, including planning, scheduling, and overseeing service delivery to ensure high standards of cleanliness and appearance.
• Provide strong, effective leadership to assigned staff, fostering a productive and positive work environment.
• Oversee the maintenance, inspection, and proper use of all carpet cleaning equipment; ensures that equipment is cleaned, serviced, and repaired according to manufacturer guidelines and safety standards
• The supervisor leads and coordinates the team's response during emergency situations such as floods, fires, or chemical spills.
• Prioritize and ensure timely completion of all assigned work orders.
• Monitor and evaluate carpet care programs to ensure compliance with university standards and recommend improvements as needed.
• Plan and schedule monthly carpet cleaning services, adjusting as needed for events or seasonal demands.
• The employee in this position will be considered designated, meaning the work performed is essential to university operations and the employee will be required to work during periods of authorized closings.

 

Qualifications:

Required:
• Knowledge of carpet cleaning techniques using industrial truck-mounted equipment.
• Knowledge of carpet cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to manage all carpet cleaning services including planning, scheduling, and performance of carpet cleaning services.
• Physical strength and ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Applicants must be at least 19 years old, possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 24 months, and have an acceptable motor vehicle report.
