General Information:
James Madison University Foundation, Inc. is accepting applications for the position of Revenue Accountant. The Revenue Accountant will maintain the accounting function for the revenues of the JMU Foundation, which includes daily entry and reconciliation of cash and stock deposits of private gift funds, special fundraising events, and pledges received by the Foundation.
James Madison University Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, formed to support and serve the James Madison University community. The Foundation accomplishes its mission through funds management efforts, including endowment management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurate accounting of revenues to ensure the integrity, accuracy and reliability of financial data with no significant errors or omissions.
- Accurately prepare daily deposit entries for posting into the Foundation's accounting system for cash and stock gifts.
- Prepare weekly ACH reporting and report gift details to Advancement Gift & Records.
- Perform quarterly gift reconciliations and pledge receivables reconciliation and pledge payment processing.
- Process and deliver monthly reporting of account balances to all account guardians in Fundriver accounting system.
- Audit Assistance/Other Duties:
- Assist in the preparation for and conduct of the Foundation's annual independent audit
- Assist in communications to the Foundation's Board of Trustees and minute preparation Provide exceptional customer service to donors, faculty & staff, board members, colleges, departments, and all programs at James Madison University.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Knowledge of applying accounting principles and practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, industry guidelines, current law, and Foundation policies and procedures.
- Fund accounting background.
- Knowledge and experience working with relational databases.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Access.
- Strong communication skills.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
