General Information:
The International Accounting Office at James Madison University is seeking a International Accountant who will support the University's study abroad programs and the international defining characteristic for enhancing global competencies of the student. The incumbent will serve on a team of International Program Accountants that provide fiscal program support to the Center for Global Engagement and faculty directors for activities occurring abroad.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide financial support to Studies Abroad Programs, including financial analysis of all aspects of Semester Abroad and Short-Term International Programs; review program budgets, revenue distribution, foreign currency contracts, exchange rate fluctuations, foreign and stateside program expenditures & foreign bank activity. Liaison for finance with foreign attorneys, bankers, accountants & labor consultants for the establishment and monitoring of foreign programs. Management of program VISA cards. Mentor and provide effective leadership to staff and student interns. Oversee and provide financial training to faculty directors leading Study Abroad. Must be able to establish reliability and trust within a team of accountants. Provide excellent customer service that promotes access, inclusion and diversity for all.
Qualifications:
Required:
Knowledge of computerized accounting systems, PC based spreadsheets and database software.
Knowledge of accounting concepts and business processes with strong analytical skills.
Experience with program budgets.
Experience with oversight & support of the preparation and completion of timely financial reports
Strong conceptual, reading, communication, comprehension and interpersonal skills.
Additional Considerations:
Knowledge of PeopleSoft financial system or similar system.
Experience with foreign currency transactions.
