General Information:

The Office of the Registrar at James Madison University is accepting applications for an Office Assistant. The Office Assistant will serve a vital role with the Office of the Registrar on the Transfer Credit Team.

We are recruiting for one part-time wage position. The position will be a year-round part-time position working an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year. Part-time employees are not eligible for benefits.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Process college transcripts through the workflow process within our document management system.
• Provide customer service in person and through phone/email
• Enter data into PeopleSoft Student Administration System while ensuring data integrity, confidentiality and accuracy.
• Work closely with students, faculty, staff and parents.
• Assist in updating the Transfer Credit Equivalency Guide using TES (Transfer Evaluation System).
• Perform moderately complex processes and exercise independent judgment with minimal supervision.
• Resolve problems independently, answer questions and interpret and apply policies and procedures.
• Resolve problems with a high standard for accuracy.
• Perform back-up duties for other staff as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
• Ability to handle and prioritize a large volume of work.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student record.
• Ability to work independently but seek advice and direction from supervisor as needed.
• Ability to serve constituents in personable and efficient manner.

• Knowledge of university and office policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft Student Administration System

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
