General Information:
The Office of Accounting Technology within the Office of Accounting Operations and Disbursements is seeking a skilled and analytical Financial Systems Analyst to join our team. This position provides functional support, testing, security administration, data analysis, and process documentation for Finance applications and related information resources.
The analyst will participate in the planning, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of the University's ERP system and related Finance applications. The position works closely with Finance users, Information Technology, and other University and State partners to support system functionality, data integrity, business processes, and customer service.
This is an on-campus, on-site position (not remote) with normal business hours of 8 AM – 5 PM.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• ERP & Finance Application Support – Participate in the planning, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of the University's ERP system, PeopleSoft Finance, and related Finance applications.
• System Testing & Data Integrity – Develop and maintain testing scripts, conduct test cycles, validate results, and work with functional and technical staff to resolve system issues.
• Queries & Reporting – Develop and maintain queries and reports to support Finance business processes, data analysis, system testing, and data integrity.
• Security Administration – Administer functional security for Finance applications, state systems, banking systems, and other Finance-supported applications and information resources.
• Systems Integration – Participate in upgrades and implementations of systems that interface with the Finance System, including JMU and State applications, HR, Student, Chrome River, document management systems, SharePoint, and Cardinal.
• Functional Support & Process Improvement – Investigate system and functional issues, assist with production support, document processes, and identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
• Web & Information Resources – Serve as a web editor for Finance Office content and maintain the online Financial Procedures Manual, SharePoint, Teams, and related information resources.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of complex computing environments and relational databases.
• Knowledge of accounting concepts, principles, and applications.
• Knowledge of functional business processes and their relationship with technical initiatives.
• Knowledge of security principles related to computing environments and relational databases.
• Knowledge of SQL and experience developing queries and reports using relational databases.
• Knowledge of reporting tools, data analysis, and data visualization concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, organize, prioritize, and coordinate processes.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Considerations:
• Experience supporting ERP or financial systems.
• Hands-on experience with PeopleSoft Finance or Oracle Cloud Applications.
• Experience with system testing, data analysis, queries, and reporting.
• Experience supporting business process improvements.
• Knowledge of reporting tools and data visualization concepts.
• Experience with web content management, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, or other information resource management tools.
