Senior Philanthropic Advisor for Principal Giving Harrisonburg
JMU seeks a seasoned and successful fundraiser to join the Principal Giving team in University Advancement as Senior Philanthropic Advisor. The Senior Philanthropic Advisor will play a critical role in building transformative relationships and securing principal-level gifts from a growing donor pool. The Principal Giving team collectively has a critical impact on JMU’s next ambitious campaign which will significantly advance JMU’s strategic priorities and the success of our students, faculty and campus environment. The successful candidate will have a passion for facilitating impactful philanthropy with individuals and families and will have the knowledge and tools to open and close conversations involving gifts of $1M+. A natural affinity for collaboration with colleagues to serve the best interests of JMU and the donors is also a key attribute. JMU’s star continues to rise. Having recently moved to the Sun Belt Conference and into a higher research classification by the Carnegie Commission, JMU went from regional to national rankings. Applications to JMU are up 70 percent in the last three years. JMU’s successful Unleashed campaign exceeded the stretch goal by 25 percent, finishing at over $250M. We are now planning and staffing for a next, more ambitious campaign. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in JMU’s rise. The Senior Philanthropic Advisor reports to the Assistant Vice President for Principal Giving in University Advancement. The Senior Philanthropic Advisor is a senior member of the Principal Giving team and also serves as an experienced, creative and strategic thought partner with colleagues across University Advancement, with an eye towards sharing and developing best practices with fellow Director-level colleagues and moving gifts and/or prospective donors through a successful donor development cycle.

The Sport and Recreation Leadership master’s degree program invites applications for a 20 hour/week graduate assistantship working with Tony Britt Spotter Charts, LLC. Tony Britt Spotter Charts, LLC is partnering with the James Madison University Sport and Recreation Leadership Master’s degree program to offer this graduate assistant position, Sports Data Specialist. This is a unique experience where students will work with Tony Britt Spotter Charts, LLC to gain professional experience in sports information and management and attend classes at James Madison University. Tony Britt Spotter Charts, LLC is a sports information and technology venture headquartered in Harrisonburg, VA. The company provides cheat sheets called “spotter charts” to TV, Radio and Internet broadcasters, ESPN & FOX Sports, 13 NFL teams & 20+ College Football teams. Graduate assistantships include enrollment in the Sport and Recreation graduate program (Sport & Recreation concentration, preferred) and involve 20 hours of work per week at Tony Britt Spotter Charts, LLC during the academic school year. Graduate assistants will begin work prior to the start of the school year and the position continues through the end of the academic year. The position includes a stipend and a tuition waiver.
Graduate Program Assistant Harrisonburg
The Reddix Center for First-Generation Students advocates for and supports students who are the first in their family to attend college. The center offers workshops and programming throughout the academic year in partnership with JMU offices and the larger community. The Center, in collaboration with the Centennial Scholars Program, seeks out graduate student assistants that desire a non-traditional and student-focused assistantship as a mentor for first-generation students. Mentors are supportive, knowledgeable of campus resources, and committed to helping students achieve their goals. Mentors will assist in the success of the program/center, working on average 20 hours per week. This position offers flexible hours and scheduling opportunities.
Assistant Director - Admissions Harrisonburg
The Office of Admissions at James Madison University is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Recruitment. This experienced position is responsible for recruiting first-year and transfer students through on- and off-campus recruitment events, executing strategic recruitment travel (6-8 weeks in the fall and 2-3 weeks in the spring), reviewing admissions applications, overseeing one or more office initiatives, and supervising 1-2 Admissions Counselors and/or Senior Admissions Counselors. This position offers the option to work remotely one day per week.
