Graduate Research Assistant Harrisonburg

The IIHHS invites applications for a part-time Graduate Assistant who will collaborate with JMU faculty on a chronic disease evaluation project funded by the Virginia Department of Health. The research assistant’s efforts will contribute to a 5-year funded research project examining the effectiveness of statewide chronic disease prevention and management programs. This 20-hour-per-week position will begin working at the start of the Fall Semester 2025, with most hours between 9am-6pm. This is a one-year appointment; however, preference will be given to students who anticipate being eligible to continue the assistantship for one or more additional years. This position includes stipend and tuition.

The JMU Athletics Ticket Office is seeking motivated and reliable student assistants to join our team. As a student assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service to patrons in person, over the phone, and via email. Responsibilities include processing ticket sales for both phone and in-person transactions, assisting with game day event operations, and performing end-of-day balancing and reconciliation of cash drawers. You will also stay informed on all policies, events, and schedules to ensure efficient and accurate service. Additional duties include supporting crowd control, ticket sellers, and general operations, as well as facilitating pass gate operations for various admissions and complimentary passes. This position requires availability to work during ticketed events, including most home football games, and the ability to perform tasks quickly and accurately.

James Madison University’s Department of Computer Information Systems and Business Analytics (CIS & BSAN) is seeking an Assistant Professor for a tenure-track appointment. About the Department: The Department of CIS & BSAN is an academic unit within the College of Business and has 25 full-time faculty members, over 600 CIS majors, 100 CIS minors and more than 30 business analytics minors. The department offers rigorous curriculum spanning application development, information architecture, database management, cybersecurity, networking, business analytics, consulting, and systems analysis and design. Additionally, the Department supports the College by providing core business classes in information systems, business analytics, and operations management. The Department places a primary emphasis on its undergraduate programs with active learning, hands-on projects, laboratory exercises, case analyses, and engaging classroom experiences designed to prepare graduates to work independently and in team-oriented environments. The CIS program is one of 10 CIS programs in the country accredited by both AACSB and ABET. It is the goal of the Office of Transfer Initiatives and JMU Next Transfer Advising to provide accurate and accessible advising to all prospective and current transfer students, to help them plan to apply to JMU, to satisfy graduation requirements through coursework taken before and after the transfer, to transition smoothly to JMU, and to prepare for their lives and careers after graduation.
