Job Summary/Basic Functions

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Advancement & Alumni Engagement Executive Office Manager & UMW Foundation Board Relations Coordinator. This position provides administrative support to the Vice President of Advancement and Alumni Engagement and the Executive Director of the UMW Foundation, oversees two part time administrative positions that support the VP's direct reports and other teams with admin support and projects as assigned. The position serves as the division's office manager by providing coordination and support for the effective management of office operations including management of the division's operating budgets and purchasing. Finally, the position provides support the the UMW Foundation's Board of Trustees. The Executive Office Manager and UMW Foundation Board Relations Coordinator anticipates, plans, and acts in a timely, proactive way to ensure optimal outcomes for the Vice President, Advancement and Alumni Engagement, the UMW Foundation, and the University.

Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications

  • Professional manner, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations and constituents.
  • Demonstrates an ability to proof, edit, and write concisely and articulately.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; must be detail-oriented and able to manipulate Excel tables utilizing formulas and data functions.
  • Ability to easily learn and experiment with new software and technology.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information in a discreet and courteous manner.

 

Required Experience:

  • Previous administrative experience or relevant experience working in a service-oriented field with transferable skills.
  • Bookkeeping experience or employment working with and manipulating financial or client data.
  • Experience working with confidential information.
  • Experience managing multiple and complex projects, meeting deadlines, adapting to changing priorities and needs.
  • Experience composing, proofing, and editing correspondence and publications.

  • Excellent grammatical, spelling, and overall editorial skills.
  • Exceptional independent judgment and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Teams, and/or Adobe InDesignAble.
  • Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends at events.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience.

Experience

  • Prior experience working for a non-profit organization, preferably in higher education.
  • Prior experience in donor relations, foundation or nonprofit operations.
  • Experience with state purchasing/eVAExperience, using Banner, and/or iModules.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

  • Certification in MS Office products.
