Job Overview:
Responsible for all creative operations within the marketing department including staff supervision and work production. Directs the activities of subordinates to establish maintain and implement brand guidelines while developing award winning creative.
Essential Functions:
• Develop and oversee usage of NYRA Bets and NYRA General brand guidelines for the three tracks as well as NYRA Corporate, across all internal platforms, collateral and external vendor usage.
• Design digital, video, collateral and promotional materials across online and offline platforms including web/mobile graphics, banners, email templates, and leave-behinds/displays (menus, brochures, race programs, etc.).
o Meet with internal stakeholders to review strategic objectives and drive creative design
o Determine and manage design requests to better exhibit NYRA’s corporate image and ensure the appropriate marketing platforms are utilized
o Provide creative quality control over concepts and execution
• Supervise the Creative Services team currently consisting of a Design Manager, Motion Graphic Artist/Designer, and a Senior Graphic Designer
o Manage their work schedule to ensure coverage on non-racing as well as live race days throughout the year
o Assign projects to designers while ensuring brand guidelines are followed and work is completed on time
o Manage external resources (freelance) when necessary, during peak season meets
o Encourage weekly project review meetings to ensure staff and creative requests/projects are organized and aligned with requirements and deadlines
• Manage and implement NYRA Bets/NYRA’s online project management system across the organization ensuring projects are submitted, reviewed, and completed in a timely fashion while working directly with various internal department
o Work directly with internal clients/department heads to gain a broader understanding of project requests and their overall department goals
o Drive process for trafficking/ tracking jobs, from beginning to end, so productivity by job type and personnel can be measured and improved upon
• Serve as point person for the Marketing Department with various vendors to ensure projects delivered on-time, within budget and at a high quality
o Secure bids and work with the Purchasing Department to ensure current polies and procedures are followed
o Manage printing and signage line items within the Marketing budget
o Negotiate best pricing possible while not sacrificing quality
• Work closely with the NYRA Bets Content Producer and NYRA Bets/General Social team to develop clever and creative content and social graphics that reflect new and real time campaigns, TV program notices, re-caps and announcements, and racing events
• Responsible for trafficking all creative assets to our media buying agencies for numerous ticket sales & special event campaigns and wagering campaigns across all three NYRA tracks
• Manage online photo/video library and naming conventions
o Liaise with the track photographer to manage weekly shot requests
o Secure bids and manage on-site execution of various photo shoots and video crews while setting the artistic vision for the projects
• Evaluate all operational aspects of department, including creative hardware/software, their cost-benefit, making sound recommendations to Senior Director, Marketing to improve process
• Post production - backup jobs, storing of job jackets, post mortems to improve process
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: 8-10+ year’s work experience
Other: Experience with InDesign. Photoshop and Illustrator;
