Department Summary
HSC Health is the academic clinical practice of the Health Science Center, where quality care meets quality education. With primary and multispecialty care offices located on the HSC campus and the UNT System campuses in Denton and Dallas, HSC Health is dedicated to improving health outcomes and building healthier communities.
Our care extends beyond traditional settings, including mobile health initiatives, hospitals, surgery centers, long-term care facilities, and in-home care. Interprofessional teams collaborate to create personalized, optimized treatment plans for each patient, involving physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, specialized technicians, and nurses. HSC Health also integrates students, residents, and fellows into the care process, enhancing both education and patient care.

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Gastroenterologist to join the team at UNTHSC, HSC Health. This position offers a unique opportunity to practice in an academic setting, engaging in a blend of clinical care, and opportunities for teaching, and research. The successful candidate will provide patient care in both the outpatient clinic and hospital settings, performing procedures and managing complex cases in the hospital. In addition to clinical responsibilities, you will contribute to the education and mentorship of health profession students, medical students, residents, and GI fellows.

Minimum Qualifications
Medical degree from an accredited medical school. Licensed to practice medicine in another state or have completed at least two years of postgraduate residency (not limited to the United States) Passed the Texas Medical Jurisprudence Examination.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to practice medicine within the scope of license, training and credentials Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing Ability to care for a diverse patient population

Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to academic medicine, including teaching and research. Expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures (preferred but not required).

Required License/Registration/Certifications
Active Texas Medical License Board Certified or Board Eligiblability in Gastroenterology

Job Duties:
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including but not limited to EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, and EUS. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans for patients with complex gastrointestinal diseases.
- Participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical and procedural settings.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and presentations at national conferences. Contribute to the continuous development of the Gastroenterology department through innovation and collaboration.
- Participate in call coverage and other hospital responsibilities as required.
