Position Overview

Reporting to the Head of Collection Development, the Head of the Subscription and Resource Management Unit oversees the operations of the unit, which include the receiving, payment and processing of collection materials and acquisition and maintenance of print and online serials. They work cooperatively with appropriate library faculty and staff to oversee the implementation and management of electronic resource management applications. The HSRM also provides leadership in collection development and assessment of the Libraries' serials and electronic resources. This position directly manages three staff.

The HSRM is a member of the Collection Development steering team, and works jointly with others on the implementation of complex acquisitions. They serve as a representative of the Collection Development department to other library divisions, university groups, external service providers, and consortium partners. This position is also responsible for managing strong library relationships with vendors and publishers. The Librarian serves on university and library committees as appropriate.

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
· Responsible for Subscription and Resource Management Unit workflows and resolution of unit workflow problems.
· Hires, trains, develops, supervises, and evaluates unit staff, which includes three full-time staff members.
· Places new orders and processes renewals for serials and standing orders in all formats.
· Oversees receiving, claiming, payment and processing, including maintenance of accurate financial records, for all materials.
· Assists staff and library liaisons with troubleshooting errors and resolving complex serials problems. Coordinates and delegates projects to proactively identify and solve errors.
· Responsible for expenditure monitoring, report preparation, vendor interaction/assessment, and special projects.
· Oversees record maintenance and public access to print and electronic journals and electronic resources in the III Integrated Library System and LibGuides A to Z list to ensure consistency of content.
· Works with Cataloging and Metadata Services Department to ensure proper MARC records are created for electronic resources and journals in III.
· Prepares data for annual serials review.
· Assists department Head in planning and coordinating departmental projects and services.
· Oversees the receipt and disposition of gift collections.
· Keep abreast of trends and developments in ER management; share information with colleagues as needed; and represent UNT Libraries in appropriate consortia or related initiatives.
· Participate in scholarly, professional, and service activities appropriate to rank. Serve on library and university workgroups and committees.
· Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• ALA-accredited Master’s Degree, or equivalent, in Library or Information Science
• 2 years of collection development experience involving serials and electronic resources
• Management experience, including supervision, coordination, and delegation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent organizational skills, and ability to work in dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with library acquisitions landscape, including major vendors and emerging acquisition models
• Ability to build effective work relationships
