Department Summary
The Study Abroad Office is responsible for coordinating the university’s study abroad and exchange programs. Study Abroad has a mandate to expand student participation and to integrate study abroad into the UNT curriculum. We aim to develop new opportunities to meet the unique needs of the UNT community and increase student access to global educational experiences.

Position Overview
This position is primarily responsible for the design and delivery of academically sound, cost effective, safe, and accessible programs in collaboration with faculty. This position aims to increase UNT student participation in study abroad opportunities by coordinating and promoting high quality/high impact faculty led programs, recruiting and advising student participants, and providing ongoing support to faculty and students throughout the process.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree and two years of office administration experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must be eligible to serve as a Designated School Official under U.S. Department of Homeland Security requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- Master’s degree in international or Higher Education Administration, College Student Development, Counseling or related field.
- At least two years or more working in study abroad administration at a four-year college or university or at a study abroad organization, preferably with faculty led programs.
- Prior experience living, studying or working internationally.
- Experience with Terra Dotta and/or PeopleSoft data management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating the success of individuals representing a broad range of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, students, and the community; take initiative and work independently; maintain confidential and sensitive information.
A U.S. Passport Acceptance Agent must also meet the following qualifications:
- Be a United States citizen or non-citizen U.S. national
- Be unable to access birth or identity documents. printing, amending, or issuance functions, including performing duties on different days or hours.
As well as be all of the following:
- Not presently on parole or probation related to any Federal, State, or local convictions.
- Not presently under indictment for a Federal, State, or local felony, or a misdemeanor related to breach of trust or moral turpitude.
- Free of any Federal, State, or local felony convictions.
- Free of any Federal, State, or local misdemeanor convictions related to breach of trust or moral turpitude (i.e. embezzlement, document fraud, drug offense, or dishonesty carrying out a responsibility involving public trust).

Job Duties:
- Coordinates the implementation of faculty led study abroad programs by advising and supporting students and faculty on aspects of their program before, during and after their participation. Coordinates the pre-departure orientation for all faculty led students in collaboration with the Associate Director and Faculty Led Programs Specialist. Participates in faculty orientations on request. Maintains data in the SAO database (Terra Dotta) for all assigned programs and participants and reviews to ensure the validity, integrity, and completeness of information.
- Oversees student recruiting for an assigned portfolio of study abroad programs. Represents the Study Abroad Office at campus events (new student orientations, student organization meetings, etc.), program information sessions, tabling events, and in social media. Collaborates with faculty on designing and delivering marketing materials and events related to student recruitment. Responds to requests for information from faculty, staff, and outside organizations on program details.
- Assists with the development of study abroad programs including advising on proposals and serving as a resource on best practices and logistical resources. Facilitates the program proposal process. Communicates department policies and procedures to students, faculty, and staff. Facilitates orientations/training sessions/workshops and assessment tools for program participants and directors.
- Establishes and implements a strategy for meeting department goals tied to one or more assigned special projects/areas of responsibility.
- Serves as a backup passport agent.
