This is the centralized portal for all TCOM Office of Medical Student Success, Careers in Medicine (CiM) program, AAMC CiM tokens, Match process, and residency-related resources. We want each student to select, apply, and be accepted to the residency program of their choice. We’re here to assist every step of the way!
Welcome to Enrichment! Our goal is to help celebrate and support the student population and enhance the inclusive educational experiences of all students. Our Enrichment Program seeks to enhance medical students’ understanding of the cultures, heritages, and identities held by themselves, their colleagues, and their patients. We also engage in efforts on institutional and national levels to promote peer mentoring, recruitment and retention, and partnerships that promote inclusion within our student body. The Advisory College Program is a mentoring network designed to promote greater interaction between faculty and students at TCOM. Each college serves as a learning community where faculty advisors facilitate curricular and co-curricular activities to develop skills which will aid medical students as future physicians.
As part of the program, medical students are placed into one of six colleges within TCOM where faculty members serve as advisors and mentors. Each college will work with students on activities to promote professionalism, wellness and professional development through College meetings and activities. Welcome to Career Development! Position Overview
The Assistant Director of Student Enrichment Programs plays a critical role in supporting the mission of the office by providing leadership and strategic direction to enhance the educational experience and success of students. The incumbent will contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based programs and services that foster a supportive environment for student transition, persistence, and graduation. This position reports to the Director of Medical Student Success.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of career development theories, practices, and strategies specifically tailored for medical students and residents, including residency match processes.
- Understanding of medical school curricula, clinical education programs, and accreditation standards that impact career services and residency placement.
- Expertise in collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing data from multiple sources to assess the effectiveness of career development strategies and inform decision-making.
- Knowledge of best practices for managing and leading career development teams, including the ability to guide and mentor staff in delivering career services.
- Strong ability to collaborate with academic, clinical, and administrative departments to promote career development and integrate it into the overall educational experience.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills for instructing both students and faculty, delivering engaging presentations, and preparing clear reports and materials.
- Proficient in providing individualized and group counseling sessions, focusing on residency preparation, career guidance, and professional development for medical students.
- Ability to advocate for career development initiatives and lead change across the institution.

Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in higher education administration, counseling, student affairs, or a related field.
- A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in student services, student affairs, or a related field, with a proven track record of program development and management.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices and best practices in student services, academic support, and student success initiatives. Advanced skills with common office productivity software, including Microsoft Office software suite (minimally, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Microsoft Outlook.

Job Duties:
- Program Development and Implementation: Collaborate with the Director to design, develop, and implement student enrichment programs that align with the offices mission and promote educational equity. Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of summer bridge programs, peer mentoring initiatives, academic counseling services, technology services, and career and financial aid guidance programs. Stay updated with current best practices, research, and trends in student services and implement evidence-based strategies to enhance program effectiveness. Collaborate with the Director for faculty development programming to help faculty and staff recognize their roles in fostering a positive school climate through assistance in preparing to lead and contribute to conversations that support a respectful and welcoming environment.
- Leadership and Supervision: Supervises one Student Navigator and works closely with program coordinators, advisors, and support staff, fostering a collaborative work environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and mentor staff to promote professional growth and ensure high-quality service delivery. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the Student Enrichment Programs office.
- Budget Management and Resource Allocation: Assist the Director in developing and managing the budget for Student Enrichment Programs, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources to support program initiatives. Monitor expenditures, identify cost saving opportunities, and prepare reports on program budgets and financial performance.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Establish metrics and assessment strategies to measure the effectiveness and impact of student enrichment programs. Analyze data, evaluate program outcomes, and make data driven recommendations for program enhancements and improvements. Prepare reports and presentations on program achievements, challenges, and future plans for stakeholders, including senior leadership and external partners.
- Student Support and Advocacy: Work closely with students to identify their needs, challenges, and aspirations, and provide appropriate support and resources. Collaborate with campus partners to develop initiatives that promote student engagement, personal growth, and academic success. Advocate for the needs of all students, ensuring that programs and services are accessible to all students.
