Department Summary
At Facilities Door Systems, our mission is to ensure a safe, secure, and accessible campus environment for all students, faculty, and staff. We are a dedicated team of skilled professionals specializing in door and lock systems, including electronic access control and ADA-compliant entrances. Our team is responsible for maintaining the proper functionality of all campus door hardware, issuing and cutting keys, and managing re-keying operations for educational and general-use buildings. Position Overview
This position is responsible for access control and key management systems for all buildings on campus. This position also assists projects related to access control, door systems, and other projects as assigned. Work involves identifying requirements for labor and equipment for maintenance projects, working directly with and coordinating with building occupants. Representative Tasks include but are not limited to:
*Performs skilled locksmith work in the installation, maintenance, opening and repair of various lock types and the making of keys. *Reloads cylinders, installs, maintains and repairs various types of locking mechanisms and other hardware for access points and containers throughout the University, including electronic, magnetic and digital entry systems. *Repairs and opens locks on desks, file cabinets, display cases, and similar containers, picking locks for which keys have been lost. *Making emergency repairs of locks as required. *Installs, repairs, and services door closers, digital entry systems, automatic doors and controls, power supplies, motion detectors, transmitters and electric strikes. *Maintain key records and codes in electronic format. *Manufactures and issues new keys to approved personnel. *Sets up and maintains control of a master key system. *Adding/deleting users on various e-locking program. *Responsible for key cutting and maintaining key control database. *Responsible for adding and deleting users on various e-locking programs. *Assists customers picking up keys from Access Control office. *Minor lock repairs (filing cabinets, desk drawers etc.). *Other duties as assigned. ** This position is considered to be essential personnel, and may require working overtime, which could include nights and weekends as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED equivalent and one year experience in related maintenance/repair field. Substitution of education for experience allowed. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
*Knowledge of key cutting. *Ability to use computer to maintain key program. *Ability to use basic math applications. *Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed. * Knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, techniques, and practices of the locksmith trade * Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions associated with the trade * Ability to read and perform written and mathematical functions * Ability to locate and correct defects in locks and panic hardware * Skill in the use and care of locksmith tools and equipment * Ability to communicate effectively and interact with the public

Preferred Qualifications

Required License/Registration/Certifications
Possession of a valid Texas driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment; ability to drive a vehicle and maintain coverage under University liability insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.
