Department Summary
The Institute for Translational Research is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNTHSC, and Create solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic "bench-top" science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease. A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer's disease.

Position Overview
This position will assist the clinical core and the department with maintaining current and upcoming participant scheduling and folder and assisting with core clerical needs. This includes creating folders, restocking supplies, updating participant folders with project notifications, organizing tester materials and back up for participant scheduling.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Confident professional appearance and positive demeanor with ability to maintain composure under pressure * Trustworthy with the ability to handle confidential information * Performs collaboratively and with extraordinary teamwork * Excellent written and oral communication proficiently, good organizational skills * Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn internal processes and procedures, including purchasing, travel and accounting

Job Duties:
- Maintain Clinical Core office supply inventory - Restock and maintain supplies as needed - Compare prices among vendors for budget considerations - Submit weekly supply order to Finance
- Maintain HD and Tau participant folder inventory - Apply and track the labeling system for Research and Med ID’s - Ensure sufficient number of folders are available each week (for both Spanish and English, Visit 1’s and follow-ups)
- Manage blood draws - Manage flow of participants for blood draws - Enter necessary information in lab interfacing system - Coordinate blood runs - Maintain blood card supply - Maintain Quest supply inventory (tubes, lab bags, Quest forms) - Make appointments for blood draws with Quest when necessary - Train new staff on blood draw management and maintain SOP updates when necessary
- Maintain IRB compliance - Update all participant folders, form and copies with newly stamped IRB approvals immediately after receiving notification - Display and update current IRB approval dates to further ensure correct folders are used
- Facilitate tester processes - Create stimulus material, such as laminated cards for protocol administration - Create visual displays, such as a representation of proper way to set up blood tubes - Maintain mailing chart string stock for testers to use with feedback letters - Provide paper copies of protocols for testers to use when system is down

- Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
