Department Summary
UNT Health is the academic clinical practice of the University of North Texas Fort Worth campus, where quality care meets quality education.
UNT Health primary and multispecialty care offices are located on the UNT Health Fort Worth, Denton and Dallas UNT System campuses, focusing on improving health outcomes to build healthier communities. Care includes mobile health initiatives and extends to hospitals, surgery centers, long-term/continuing care centers, and in-home care. UNT Health’s interprofessional teams work collaboratively to achieve an optimized treatment plan tailored to the individual patient. Physicians, neurologists, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, nurses and more work together while intentionally integrating healthcare students, residents, and fellows to deliver care to our community.

Position Overview
UNT Health Center for Older Adults is seeking a compassionate Lead Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team of healthcare providers at the UNT Health Fort Worth campus. The Lead Medical Assistant will perform administrative, clerical and some clinical duties under the direction of a clinician or clinic supervisor. This role requires a candidate with strong organizational skills, a diverse set of interests and skill set, and strong interpersonal communication abilities. Candidate must exhibit compassion, understanding, the ability to work well in teams, and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment is critical for this position.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a Certified Medical Assistant, have a CPR certification, graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program, and one (1) year of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of medical office operations and clinical setting. Ability to effectively manage time, to adjust to changes, and to handle multiple tasks. Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data and patient information. Ability to take initiative in identifying issues and solving problems. Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Prior clinical support and medical office experience preferred.

Required License/Registration/Certifications
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required. Medical Assistant certification, and CPR (BLS) certification.

Job Duties:
- Onboard new clinical team members and provide training.
- Measure patient vital signs as standard of care and perform procedures, injections, and administer vaccines as ordered by the provider.
- Oversee maintenance for compliance to ensure clinical equipment is up to date.
- Optimize patient scheduling by managing patient flow and providing access to care. Following standard Department workflows, provides guidance to team members in maintaining patient flow.
- Ensures exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and materials. Informs clinic leadership of medical supplies to be ordered.
- Provide first level guidance to Medical Assistants for best practices in coordination with clinic supervisor/manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
